The Job
The Engineering Manager will manage all new program and mold making activities from Request for Quotation through Release to Production. This includes overseeing all projects to ensure that they are completed on schedule, within budget, and executed to both internal and external customer specifications and requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Manages all aspects of new programs including, but not limited to, personnel management, project management, resource allocation, and continuous improvement efforts.
· Prioritizes, coordinates and facilitates all project activities to ensure that all projects are completed on schedule, within budget and are executed to customer’s satisfaction.
· Maintains constant communication with other engineering, tool making, manufacturing, and quality team members, as well as frequent communication with commercial team, customers, and upper management.
· Primary areas of responsibility include the following areas: Cost Estimating both piece price and tooling, Program Management, Mold Design and Build, Mold Testing, Part Inspection, Data Analysis, Mold Grooming, and Validation Submissions.
· Facilitates weekly engineering team meetings and ensure timely updates to internal GYR project management system as well as communicate project status updates to external customers.
· Resolves open issues in all weekly team meetings, design reviews, and Preliminary Quality Acceptance Requirements (PQAR) meetings.
· Manage all design review meetings to ensure proper company-wide attendance, adherence to company tooling standards, documentation control, and coordination of follow-up activities.
· Assist in the development and improvement of systems for project management that will improve customer communication, increase resource utilization, and reduce lead times.
· Assist in the identification and selection of outside tooling vendors and resources when required.
· Focus departmental and plant-wide efforts towards continuous improvement in the areas of labor reduction, profitability, scientific molding, quality improvements, DOE’s, capability studies, process optimization & repeatability and meeting all ISIR/PPAP/Submission dates.
· Responsible for the training, development and performance evaluations of engineering personnel.
· Perform other duties as may be required or requested.
The Candidate
· Engineering degree preferred, plus 10+ years of related hands on experience.
· Proven leadership skills to develop a team approach that will ensure quality and productivity within the department. Self-motivated and self-starter is essential.
· Familiar with modern mold making technologies including CNC machining, EDM, etc.
· Experience with mold design and mold flow analysis.
· Fluent in CAD. Experience with Unigraphics CAD is preferred.
· Experience with small component, high precision, multi-cavity molds.
· Experience with multi-shot, insert, and micro molding tooling.
· Experience with hot runner and valve gate tooling. Moldmasters preferred.
· Proven project management skills. Experience with Microsoft Project.
· Proven customer communications skills.
· Bilingual (Mandarin and English) preferred.
